Art Inspiration For You

ART WITH ALLY

Would you like to be inspired to create your own art? sketching, drawing, painting?

Have you always wanted to draw or paint, but been too scared to mess it up or do it wrong?

Do you think you have no artistic talent?

Everyone can draw and paint. Like anything else, you just have to learn the system. And practice. Only a minimum of 5 minutes every day…

I learnt how to draw faces in 2017. I started off drawing cartoon like faces. I loved copying faces from books and magazines. I thought I was “cheating”! Then I learnt that artists often use “reference photos” to inspire them in their artwork! My favourite art muse is Karen Campbell. Some of my artwork is for sale HERE – pencil sketches, watercolour art and acrylic paintings.

5 Steps to Easy fun Art

I do not have enough time? you can draw for 5 minutes

Getting Started: I don’t have the right supplies? you only need a pencil and piece of paper (maybe an eraser) to start practicing. Step #1

Don’t have enough money to afford the expensive paints and canvases? Go to Spotlight, Cheap as Chips, Cheap “$2 shop” and get a canvas for about $5, paintbrushes set for $5. Use A4 paper or get a Visual Art Diary or drawing pad! You only really need 4 colours of acrylic paint – Red Blue Yellow and White – cheap paints are only $2-3 per tube. The rest can be easily mixed!! See my 2020 Starter Pack prices for easy beginnings! Step #1

When do I do it? practice for 5 minutes every day. Go to YouTube and search “How to draw a face in 5 minutes” Step #3

How long should I draw or paint for? How do I know when its finished? As long as you like. It can be a quick sketch. You can set a timer. As soon as you finish one, then you can start the next one. You will find that you get “into the  zone” and you are enjoying the creativity. and you spend longer doing your artwork. If you don’t like it, or make a “mistake” (most are correctable!) you have only “wasted” one piece of paper! There is no “perfection”, just practice, practice, practice! Step #2, Step #4

What do I paint? Find photos or pictures in magazines, advertisements, on the internet of things or people that inspire you or interest you to paint or draw, and just copy them. It’s not cheating, it’s called “reference photos”! And you don’t ever have to draw it exactly the same! It’s the starting point for your drawing or painting. Or you can meditate and draw from your imagination/ intuition. Step #3

What if I get stuck? What if I need some support or inspiration? If you don’t know how to start, don’t know what colours to use, how to fix a mistake, or how to finish? Just call me, for help, advice, to book a personal lesson, or join a group lesson online on Zoom Step #5

Why not try drawing and painting? It is fun! It’s relaxing, you don’t have to think, you get in a “zone” …
